Lights applications
Application of Lamps
It is not always easy to choose the right lamp for the application you have in mind. Therefore, we would like to give you some tips that may help you with this.
Light Color
The light color largely determines the atmosphere and appearance that a lamp creates. A warm-white flame color offers coziness and intimacy, while a bright white color is suitable for illuminating a space or object well. Pay close attention to the specifications of a lamp, where the light color is indicated with terms like ‘warm white’, ‘cool white’, or ‘flame’.
Sensors
Both outdoor and indoor lamps are available with built-in sensors. Generally, this is a motion detector or a twilight sensor. A motion detector detects movement and then switches on a lamp for a few minutes. Almost always, this motion detector comes combined with a twilight sensor so that the lamp does not turn on when movement is detected during the daytime.
A lamp with a twilight sensor – also known as a day and night sensor – switches on when it gets dark and turns off once the sun provides sufficient light again.
Both sensors eliminate the need to operate the lamp with a switch.
Outdoor or Indoor Lamps
Not every lamp is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Outdoor lighting must meet a series of requirements to function in all weather conditions. Water resistance, indicated by the IP rating, is important outdoors. The method of installation can also differ between outdoor and indoor lamps. Outdoor lamps can, of course, always be used indoors.
Under a veranda or other covered area where rain and other weather conditions have no effect, indoor lamps can sometimes be used as well.
Flashlights
Before purchasing a flashlight, it is wise to consider how intensively and for what purpose you want to use the lamp.
Will you need it frequently and for long periods?
Then a flashlight with LED technology is a good choice because of its low energy consumption.
Terrace Lighting
If you enjoy reading a book on your terrace during a pleasant summer evening, adequate terrace lighting is a must. The ideal terrace lamp is at least 1.20 meters high, ensuring the light falls in the right place. If you only want to illuminate the paving, a pedestal lamp will suffice.
Bicycle Lamps
Do you sometimes forget to switch off your bicycle light? Then opt for LED lights. They require little maintenance, have a long lifespan, and use very little energy. Bicycle lights offer various user options, and each type of bicycle lamp has its own advantages. This way, you never have to ride in the dark again.
