The G9 fitting light makes use of a pin socket/a socket with two pins. This is why we refer to it as a so-called two-pin light. The number '9' has got to do with the distance between these two pins, as it is exactly 9 millimetres. This pin socket is also referred to as bi-pin socket or even mini bi-pin socket.
The G9 fitting can be used for both 230-volt halogen lights and 230-volt LED lights. These G9 lights are perfectly suited for both indoor lights and outdoor lights.
Just like with all the other lights, there are different kinds of G9 fitting lights. Think, for example, of G9 halogen lights, G9 eco-halogen lights and G9 LED lights. There are also a lot of different shapes available. You could opt to buy bullet-shaped lights or candle-shaped lights, for instance! All of these different types of lights have different wattages, too. The following wattages are commonly used when you buy a G9 fitting: 1 Watt, 2 Watt, 3.5 Watt, 28 Watt, 40 Watt and 48 Watt.
Throughout the years, there have been a lot of technical developments aimed at specifically the G9 fitting. First we noticed an addition of eco-halogen lights to the already existing range of halogen lights. That development meant a huge saving on energy bills! Afterward, as an addition to halogen light and eco-halogen light series, the G9 LED light also became a thing. These LED G9 lights are exceptionally energy-friendly, way more so than their eco-halogen light counterparts.
