E14 lights fitting

The letter 'E' is short for Edison (a screwed wire applied and used in, for example, light bulbs and light fittings). The number '14' refers to the diameter of the fitting, in millimetres.

The E14 fitting, as well as the E27 fitting, are the most commonly used fittings for 230-240-volt lights, in the majority of countries. In addition, this E14 fitting is frequently used for dimmable lights and chandeliers.

The predecessor of the E14 LED fitting

Because of the constant development of the E14 light bulb, a lot of energy-friendly lights have been appeared on the light market throughout the past couple of years. It all started in the '80s (of the previous century, of course), when the energy-saving light bulb became a thing. It quickly caused a lot of households to save on their energy bills.

In recent years, we notice a manifestation of the LED technology. There used to be nothing but white-coloured LEDs, but of course technology and consistent evolution have changed this! Nowadays, you can also purchase 'warm white' coloured E14 fitting LED light bulbs.

On top of the multiple developments in order to make lights more and more energy-friendly, there has also been a lot of effort in producing different types and sizes of E14 light bulbs. If you are looking for one, you will undoubtedly find regular light bulbs, saving light bulbs, LED lights and eco-halogen lights. The wattage of these products tends to vary, just like the shape of the E14 fitting lights. E14 LED fittings are, for example, available in cone-shaped lights and candle-shaped lights! In conclusion, there are lot of different E14 fittings available.
